1st Gel Koropi Koropi Athens

1st GEL Koropi is a senior high school that is attendant by 300 students aged between 16-18 years old. They study into three different grades. A variety of theoretical and practical subjects are thought and students also have the opportunity to choose among optional subjects (art, environment, etc.)some of the subjects taught in the school are; Algebra, Geometry, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Ancient and Modern Greek, Literature, History, Informatics, Religious Education, Sociology, Philosophy, Physical Education and Projects in several topics. All students learn English, French and German. Students in the last grade also take part in examinations in order to enter the university.

In the school teach, there are 30 well qualified academics teachers. Among them, there are 5 philologists (teaching Ancient and Modern Greek and History), 4 mathematicians, 2 physicist, 2 Chemists, 2 biologists, 2 English teachers, 1 French teachers, 1 German teacher, 1 Computer Science teacher, 1 PE teacher, 2 sociaologist, 2 Re teachers.

1o GEL Koropiou does not only focus on academic subjects but also on different cultural and athletic events. Students are motivated, they show passion and enthusiasm and they often earn distinctions(silver medal in the International Mathematical Olympiad 2016, participation in the European Youth Parliament 2016 and the Greek Youth Parliament , gold medals in Greek competitions in physics, chemistry, maths, sports, dance etc. )

We are very interested in projects and every year several different projects are organized and run in our school. Some of the topics addressed the last 2 years are: Local History, Pontos, Vocational Guidance, Castle and Castle towns, Mythology, Mathematics in real life, smoking and drugs prevention and many more. We are also very active on the subject of bullying and cyberbullying.

Our students study ancient and modern history and we have teachers who have expertise in the field of history and they run several projects related to local history.
